Doctors & Staff
Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Eyes on Fulton the leading provider of vision care products and services in Chicago.
Kaori Asano, O.D.
Dr. Kaori Asano is originally from California where she graduated from UCLA with a BS in Molecular Biology. She moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois College of Optometry, where she graduated magna cum laude with her Doctorate of Optometry. She received several awards upon graduation including: The Alcon Clinical Excellence Award, The Walman Optical Corporation Scholarship, and was named in the article “Next Generation of Optometry Leadership” by Vision Monday magazine.
She chose to continue her training by completing an optional residency in primary care/ocular disease at the Illinois Eye Institute (IEI). After completing residency, she became a faculty member at IEI, where she continues to teach optometry students as Clinical Assistant Professor.
Dr. Asano has been practicing in the downtown area since 2007. As her positive online reviews from her previous offices can attest, patient satisfaction and education are her utmost concern. Dr. Asano’s area of interest is corneal disease and specialty contact lens fitting. Her clinical background includes co-managing surgical cases such as cataracts, LASIK, and PKP. Dr. Asano also has experience with pediatric patients from conducting eye exams at Chicago Public Schools. FOXNews-Chicago/Phoenix (http://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/1540802-story#) recently interviewed her regarding the risks associated with eyelash extensions and eyelash growth serums.
Dr. Asano is an active member of the Illinois Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association. She is also a member of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) and has traveled with them to several South American countries on volunteer missions to provide eye exams and glasses to those in need. In her free time, Dr. Asano likes taking fitness classes, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband, son, and dog.
Opening her own practice, Eyes on Fulton, has fulfilled a dream for Dr. Asano. She looks forward to providing the public with excellent eye care while using the latest technology as well as styling patients with the highest quality eyewear.
Joo Won “Jen” Kaser, O.D.
Dr. Joo Won “Jen” Kaser was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to Kansas at the age of eight. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Kansas and successfully earned her Doctor of Optometry degree, magna cum laude, from the Illinois College of Optometry. Upon completion of her ocular disease and low vision residency at the Illinois Eye Institute, Dr. Kaser joined as a full-time optometrist at a busy multidisciplinary ophthalmology clinic in the western suburb of Chicago. There she gained substantial experience in urgent eye care, specialty contact lens fitting, pre and post-operative co-management, and managing ocular surface disease. In addition, Dr. Kaser obtained hospital privileges to treat patients at the Glen Oaks Medical Center for eye-related injuries and became a staff member at Illinois Eye Institute to work with future optometry students.
In pursuit of a better work-life balance, Dr. Kaser now works part-time providing eye exams to underprivileged Chicago public school students and seeing patients at Eyes on Fulton. Her goal is to educate patients on maintaining healthy eyes, treating eye conditions to provide optimal eye comfort, and helping patients achieve clear vision through glasses, contacts, and/or refractive surgery. Dr. Kaser is excited to get to know the community members of the West Loop and is looking forward to building long term relationships with new patients.
In her spare time, Dr. Kaser enjoys reading traveling and spending quality time with her husband and three young children.
Kelly Keller, Office Manager
Born & raised on the Southwest side of Chicago where she lived for 33 years. Let’s go, go-go White Sox! She moved to the suburbs in 2018 but doesn’t want to talk about it. Kelly has been with us since we opened our doors back in 2016 and has known and worked with Dr. Asano for over a decade. She loves Halloween and all things scary and has a healthy mix of the light & dark side – but don’t ask her to pick one. Will show you pictures of her dog even if you don’t ask.
Soohee Scott, Lead Optician
Soohee joined our team in 2018 and with 15+ years of experience, we are so happy to have her as our lead optician. She can fix just about anything – just ask Kelly, they worked together for two years at a different optical shop. Soohee was born & raised in South Korea, moved to Chicago in 2013 and became an American citizen in 2019! Soohee likes to walk on the lakefront and spends half her check on food and the other half at Sephora.
